Drivers caught using their hand held mobile phones behind the wheel are to have the penalties increase in March 2017. The penalties will double meaning that drivers now face 6 points on their licence and a £200 pound fine.

The upshot of this is that drivers could face a ban after 2 offences. Recent research has shown that there has been an increase in the use of handheld mobile phones whilst driving. In 2014/15 the DFT found that using a hand held mobile phone contributed to 43 fatal accidents.

Fleetrisk24 encourage drivers to think “Be the Better Driver” and turn their phone to voicemail to avoid any distraction.
